A couple weeks ago, in the beginning of October, I finished my Summer 2012 Bucket List.
The last thing I crossed off was a trip to the Drive-In movies.
I have been wanting to go for a couple years now and since I only know of three theatres in the state (Skowhegan, Westbrook, and Saco) it became a little tricky to make it happen. But I did… and I loved it so much I went again last weekend!
If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it; and here’s why (based on the Saco Drive-In):
The Price! You can’t beat a $15 per car admission price no matter how many people you bring.
The comfort! You can talk about the movie as loud as you want. You can get up and go to the bathroom without bothering anyone else as many times as you want, and you don’t have to get out of your car if you don’t want to.
The food! Well, kinda. I never bought food from the concessions, but that’s the beauty of it. We brought in Chinese one weekend and Chipotle the next. It was really cool to have dinner and watch a movie at the same time.
The sound! You can turn the movie up as loud as you want, or as low as you want. The controls are right at your hands on the radio dial. Very cool.
I was a little bummed when the days started getting cooler and summer started fading into fall because I thought I missed my opportunity for the Drive-In. But, honestly, you can’t beat comfortable temperatures and not having to fight with mosquitoes in October Saturday was the last night for the Saco Drive-In so we’ll all have to wait til next year, anyway!
